Wet Earth Day..

Well, it sure looked like Mother Earth just felt like some rain, while her inhabitants – not so much..

A big thanks to those who came out!

A story from the Herald Sun on the event: http://www.heraldsun.com/view/full_story/18325205/article-Durham-celebrates-Earth-Day-rain-or-shine

Our next Bull City Open Streets is scheduled to be on June 9th 4-7 pm in North East Central Durham on Driver St. There we’ll have the Police dept K9 unit give a presentation as well as host a bike rodeo in the beginning of the event so we hope to have many kids biking around the route after the class is done.

If you are interested in partaking/volunteering on that day please let us know (ninna @cleanenergydurham.org).

Bull City Open Streets 2012 Update

Hi all!

Our first event this year is on Earth Day April 22nd 12-5 pm and Bull City Open Streets will be adjacent to the festival site, going in the form of a P starting at the Pavilion on Foster St. On the route you will encounter representatives from our city’s three fine bike shops, which will provide the attendants with various free services. Take the time to get to know them and enjoy what they offer on that day, and beyond. You will also be able to come to Clean Energy Durham’s station to enjoy a healthy, tasty and bike-pedaled (!) smoothie. Thanks to Durham Whole Foods for donations and help we can provide this popular feature to all, kid as senior. You’ll have to pedal it yourself, but be sure that it’ll taste much better for it.

One thing we ask of all attendants is to come to the event by bike or on foot or on a bus (free that day) so that there will be a minimum of vehicles on this Earth Day celebration!

If you’re interested in helping us out and volunteer for that day, please contact Ninna Gagnon on ninna@cleanenergydurham.org.

Tomorrow is the day – last Bull City Open Streets of 2011

and it will be a gorgeous day.  High 70′s with mostly sunny skies and low humidity.

Sounds like a great day to come down and ride your bike, walk your dog or just hang out on the car-free streets of Durham.

We will have Chirba Chirba, Bulkogi, BIKEcoffee, Kings and Geer Street Garden open to take care of your lunch.

There is an awesome kids section with the YMCA’s bounce house, games and all of Playworks’ staff on site offering hundreds of games like four square, tag and more.

Finally we are kicking it all off at 1pm with a parade that you can take part in.  Marching bands, belly dancers, walking dogs, Bulltown Strutters, dancers, Banghra and you.  Get there at 12:45 to join in the parade.

See you there!
